The comment period for Pete Lien and Sons’ Rochford Mineral Exploratory Drilling Project #67838, graphite exploration, has been EXTENDED by one week.

This graphite project is immediately adjacent to Pe’ Sla, a vital sacred site to Lakota people who return ceremonially multiple times throughout the year. Through our research we found that 16 of the 18 drill pads are within 2 miles of Pe’ Sla. Drilling noise, traffic, and lights from drilling would disrupt spiritual ceremonies, wildlife, and area residents. Some of those drill pads are right by creeks within the upper Rapid Creek watershed.
You can be brief, but include the following –
- Name and address
- Who you are and why you care about this project and the Black Hills
- The name of the project (Rochford Mineral Exploratory Drilling Project)
- Say why you oppose the Rochford Mineral Exploratory Drilling Project. Use your own words (don’t copy ours)
- Say that you want the Forest Service to do an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for this project
