Our updated active mining claims map is here. This new map now shows that there are 1536 fewer claims, yes, we said FEWER, than reported in October of 2023. So now the total acreages of active mining claims in the Black Hills on Federal Lands are at about 261,411 acres vs 293,000 acres that were last reported. We are not sure why there’s a decrease but this averages out to approximately 11% of the mining claims are no longer active in the Bureau of Land Management database.
We will keep researching this decrease, which we’re happy about, and will keep you informed, along with other mining related issues in the Black Hills.
