The Black Hills are under assault again.
The uranium industry is using a method called in situ leach mining which extracts uranium from our aquifers. Dangerous chemicals are used and no mine has ever brought back the water as it was.
Who in his right mind would take an aquifer that is the water supply of the Black Hills and subject it to damage?
These companies doing this are foreign companies and if the damage is done, all they have to do is retreat back to Canada or other places and leave cleanup to the taxpayers.
The uranium that is mined goes on the world market, and probably doesn’t stay in the United States.
Will we sacrifice our water to supply uranium to countries that are not friendly to us?
That is why we have to act. Write letters to the editor, call the politicians, speak to your neighbors and let your voice be heard, Too many people sacrificed for these Black Hills and to sell out for pennies to out-of-state interest that will leave when their work is done is too high a price to pay.
