JOIN US FOR A RUN OR A WALK ALONG RAPID CREEK (MNILUZAHAN)

WHY? Gold companies are exploring upstream from Rapid City in the Rapid Creek drainage in the central Black Hills.
The Rapid Creek drainage includes Pe’ Sla, Rochford, Mystic, Deerfield, Silver City, and west almost to the Wyoming border. Gold activities are a major threat to Mniluzahan (Rapid Creek), which is the water supply for Rapid City, Ellsworth Air Force Base, agriculture, and smaller reservation and rural communities. The Creek is also a major site for recreation, from Pactola and Deerfield Reservoirs to whitewater kayaking to a blue ribbon trout fishery. Pollution from gold mining in the northern Black Hills can be found all the way downstream to the Missouri River.
