HEADS UP! Get Ready for the Golden Crest Public Comment Period Coming Soon.

HEADS UP! Within days, the Northern Hills Ranger District will release their Environmental Assessment (EA) of the “Golden Crest” project by the Colorado-based company Solitario Zinc.

Solitario Zinc, a gold exploration company, is seeking permission to drill at 23 sites along the western edge of Spearfish Canyon. They currently have approximately 33,000 acres claimed.

When the Environmental Assessment is released, we will need you to get comments to the Forest Service – and we will only have 30 days. This is where you come in.

Right now, we want folks to stay updated, and we need your help with:

  • Sharing this message with your friends, families, and neighbors!

A gold mine, or even exploratory drilling, would threaten Spearfish Creek, the wildlife of the canyon and its waters, our tourism economy, and the natural beauty of the Black Hills.

Together, we can make our voices heard and say NO to Solitario Zinc’s harmful gold exploration!

In the meantime, we also have a petition that you can sign. This is in addition to submitting your comment, which both are greatly needed. Sign the petition linked here. HANDS OFF SPEARFISH CANYON!
